Is This A Chance For Districts To Take Back Control Of Their Schools And Spending? Please Follow us on Gab, Minds, Telegram, Rumble, GETTR, Truth Social, Twitter The Maryland Legislature opens its 2025 session today. It has some serious problems to address, including the strain the bloated Blueprint for Maryland’s Future puts on state and local taxpayers. Now that the State of Maryland has an approximately $3 billion dollar deficit, Governor Wes Moore, whose administration/party have taken the State from a surplus to debt, suddenly wants to put a “pause” on Maryland’s education spending leviathan Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. The legislation is projected to add $3.9 billion…
As we have noted in the past, voting in school board elections is one of the most important things you can do. Many people think that school board races are irrelevant, and some will even say, “I don’t have any kids in school” as if it doesn’t apply to them. It applies to every adult. Education is the foundation of our entire future, and the next generation will be running society. The liberal legislators understand this, so they along with the teachers’ union will stop at nothing to have control over our schools in order to continue their political agendas…
During the holiday season, there are showings of different versions of Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Although the story itself is a classic, the various remakes are awful. So, forgive me for making a reference to that story in the title of this article. I promise you I am not Ebeneezer Scrooge (though some may think I am). I will not tell stories of strange ghosts I have seen although I am sure there are some in Oxford! The title is merely a way to organize the story of my hometown, Oxford. For the most part, Oxford’s past was a…
Maryland’s Governor Also Ignores State Deficit Created By Education Reform Package Please Follow us on Gab, Minds, Telegram, Rumble, GETTR, Truth Social, Twitter At the Maryland Association of Counties Conference in Cambridge last week, Maryland Governor Wes Moore presented his concerns about the State’s Blueprint for Maryland’s Future program, a behemoth plan to improve Maryland’s public schools, and it’s impact on the State budget which is in a 2.7 billion dollar deficit. As usual, the Governor used the wrong lens with which to few the problems and possible solutions to the overspending the Blueprint is causing. Ever since the Blueprint was enacted, local districts and county governments…
Delmarva Parent Teacher Coalition Recent findings from the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) and Rutgers University indicate that some diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training approaches may cause psychological damage. The research demonstrates a rise in hostility, victimhood, and mindsets aiming to inflict punishment among individuals who participated in DEI training. Topics that were discussed included race, religion, and social groups. This tends to attribute hostility, as stated by Joel Finkelstein, Chief Science Officer at NCRI. He also stated how DEI initiatives may lead to greater animosity, partiality, and authoritarian actions over time. “NCRI’s research above showing the perception of…

When it comes to public school education, the most important person in the equation is the classroom teacher. Research shows the classroom teacher can either inspire a student to great achievement or set that student back, especially if it is during the formative elementary years. Most teachers enter the profession out of a true calling. They want to do their best to teacher children the skills they need to be successful adults. Of course, they want to make a living at their profession and holidays and summers off don’t hurt. While parents know all that, what many don’t know is…
Last week we wrote about Trump’s plan for education in the United States using his campaign web page as reference. A large part of Trump’s education plan is the “American Academy.” He explains it in this video posted on “X.” Jack Montgomery on X: “Trump’s best education policy, announced as part of ‘Agenda 47′ in November 2023, is the American Academy. This completely free, online institution, funded by taxes on woke universities’ endowments, will offer full degrees, and college credits to people with incomplete degrees: https://t.co/0GWnJmloWK” / X One of the most interesting parts of this plan is the idea…
Latest Cabinet Nominee Triggers Education Establishment Meltdown It’s been reinforced in the weeks after Trump’s overwhelming election win that he is not afraid to court controversy and think outside the box on his decisions. Almost every cabinet appointment outside Robert Kennedy Jr. took many people, even Trump supporters, by surprise. With every appointment, the sound of progressives losing their minds has been astounding. Establishment Republicans are almost as loud as they wonder what Trump is “up to.” The latest appointment of Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education follows the same pattern. I’ll admit, her name was not on my list…
