Charlie Kirk’s Assassination Prompts Educators To Reveal Lack Of Integrity, Humanity, And Discretion In Online Posts Picture courtesy Ryan Fournier When I started teaching in the late 70’s there was no social media. However, as a young teacher I was counseled, along with many other teachers, to be careful of my actions and statements in public. If I wanted to go out to a bar, that was fine, but I needed to be sure that none of my students would see me drinking. To allow that would send the wrong message. I had to be careful about sharing my political…

A Cautionary Tale For Taxpayers And Parents I have been watching Chris Pabst’s news stories on FOX 45 Baltimore for years. Pabst is the main architect and reporter of the “Project Baltimore” segment on the station. In fact, we have referenced many of his reports on the Baltimore City Public Schools in our Easton Gazette stories about education in Maryland. His reports point out problems in the City Schools that many were unaware of OR chose to ignore. I often wondered why he didn’t write a book about all that he has learned. He finally did. The book is called…
Is the State Trying to Eliminate the Powers of Local Elected Officials? It Seems So. Baltimore County School Board Member Maggie Domanowski Is Vindicated After Censure Threat Overturned SOMERSET COUNTY If you conduct a search to see how many local Maryland school superintendents have been fired by their elected boards and then were reinstated in Maryland history, you will get this answer: This case appears to be unusual and possibly unprecedented, as there is no clear record of other local superintendents in Maryland being fired and then reinstated by the State. Personnel matters like these are often confidential, and reinstatements…

The Title VI complaint, filed with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, alleges that BCPSS has knowingly allowed its schools to become hostile environments for Jewish students. Despite Denials, Maryland Governor Wes Moore’s Actions Indicate He Is Promoting His Presence As A Presidential Candidate It seems to be a thing among Maryland Governors. They think that they should run for President even though they come from a small Mid-Atlantic state that has no real footprint on the electoral college landscape. Most of the time, people don’t even know who they are. Think about it. Martin O’Malley. Larry Hogan. And now, Wes Moore. O’Malley polled at about 2-3% nationally in the 2016 Democrat primary. Marylanders Don’t Like Martin O’Malley, So Why Would The Rest Of America? | FiveThirtyEight…
English Language Arts Scores Drop Slightly Talbot School Superintendent Dr. Sharon Pepukayi has always been up front about the system needing to address the academic challenges it faces and make needed changes in instruction and monitoring. This year will be no different as the recent Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) scores for Talbot show virtually no growth in Math and Language Arts. In Math, the Talbot showed miniscule growth from 23/24 when only 18.3% of the county students tested proficient to 24/25 when only 18.9% scored proficient in math. The county ranked 18th in Math last year, 15th this year.…
