The Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., declared on Tuesday that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will no longer suggest the Covid vaccine for healthy kids and expectant mothers.
“As of today, the Covid vaccine has been taken off the CDC’s recommended vaccination list for healthy children and pregnant women,” Kennedy stated in a video shared on X. “Last year, the Biden administration pushed for healthy kids to receive another Covid shot, despite the absence of clinical evidence supporting the need for continuous boosters in children.”
In the announcement video, Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Martin Makary, and Director of the National Institutes of Health, Jay Bhattacharya, stood alongside Kennedy.
“There’s no indication that healthy children require it, and many nations have halted the vaccine recommendation for kids,” remarked Makary. “It’s common sense and solid science,” echoed Bhattacharya. These revised recommendations follow recent CDC reports highlighting a heightened risk of myocarditis in young men after vaccination.
Many Americans have already chosen to forgo Covid vaccinations, irrespective of CDC suggestions. Recent CDC statistics indicate that merely one in eight American children have received the Covid vaccine, alongside only one in four adults over 18 having gotten the shot.
The Trump administration announced this policy change without consulting a panel of experts who usually review such decisions. This development follows years of complex vaccine policy concerning Covid in the U.S. throughout various administrations.
