Drivers in Maryland are facing an increase in car registration fees, which came into effect on July 1st. Previously, the fee for vehicles weighing up to 3,700 pounds was $135 for two years. However, with the new regulations, owners of cars up to 3,500 pounds will now pay $221 every two years.
This adjustment is a result of a recent legislation passed by the Maryland General Assembly, with the aim of channeling the additional revenue toward road improvements and supporting trauma centers across the state.
For more detailed information on the new fee structure, drivers can refer to the updated schedule, which now offers the choice between paying annually or biennially.
