In Berlin, Maryland, a former employee of a local child care center is facing serious charges after being indicted by a Worcester County grand jury on 90 criminal offenses, including 90 felony counts of child abuse.
The accusations against Heather Ward surfaced when her 8-month-old child was brought to Atlantic General Hospital with a fractured tibia, leading to Ward’s initial arrest in November. A subsequent examination of surveillance footage from a classroom at the Berlin Education Station child care facility revealed disturbing incidents of Ward mistreating multiple children.
During a recent presentation to the Worcester County Grand Jury on March 26, the Worcester County State’s Attorney pressed charges against Ward for the alleged offenses.
