RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A dog walk honoring military working dogs and those who have dedicated their lives to service was held Saturday at the Virginia War Memorial.
On Saturday, March 16, friends, family, and furry companions gathered at the Virginia War Memorial for the K-9 Veterans Day Memorial Dog Walk to honor all K-9 military and service dogs. .
The event began at 10 a.m. at the Virginia War Memorial’s Heilman Amphitheater and was a 0.9K dog walk with stops to remember military and service dogs from history. Caricatures of dogs were also displayed at the event.
The mission of the 0.9K for K-9s walk is to honor all military, law enforcement, search and rescue, and other service dogs on the battlefields of war and in our communities, according to an event spokesperson. That’s what it means.
