A military training institution is on lockdown following an incident involving a former student who was reportedly expelled and returned armed, according to Fox News.
The United States Naval Academy located in Annapolis, Maryland, initiated a lockdown on Thursday night as local authorities addressed threats made against the campus.
“Naval Support Activity Annapolis (NSAA) is collaborating with local law enforcement in response to threats concerning the Naval Academy,” stated NSAA Public Affairs Officer Lt. Naweed Lemar to Fox News. “The base is under lockdown as a safety precaution. This situation is ongoing, and we will provide updates as they become available.”
A representative from the Naval Academy confirmed to U.S. Naval Institute News that officials are addressing the threats, but did not specify whether there is an active shooter on the premises.
It remains unclear if there have been any injuries reported.
