This Labor Day Weekend, Washington D. C. hosted hundreds of members of the National Organization Moms for Liberty as they conducted their annual summit two blocks from the White House. It was unclear if Joe Biden was in residence, but he was not spotted at or near the conference. The organization, whose main mission is the protection of parental rights, meets annually to educate their members and leaders regarding issues and strategies that Moms for Liberty can use to help parents advocate for the rights of their children, grandchildren, and children in their communities.
The conference opened on Thursday with founders Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich addressing the leaders of over 300 local chapters who hail from 48 states. Moms for Liberty has over 103,000 members nationwide. One of the major topics was the recent injunction restricting the Biden Administration’s Title IX clarification which included violations of students’ rights to free speech and threats to women’s sports. Currently, that injunction covers over 5000 schools from any Department of Education enforcement of the Biden edict.
Another topic was the great strides the group has made in getting school board members elected in many districts as well as the education of parents regarding their rights to direct the educational and medical decisions for their children.
Breakout sessions on Thursday included media preparation, website creation, legislative advocacy, and fundraising strategies. On Thursday night, Moms for Liberty hosted a “comedy night” featuring The Babylon Bee’s Seth Dillon and comedian Rob Schneider. Justice said, with all of the serious things going on in the world, we thought it was a good time to ease tensions by laughter.
Dillon told of how his satire site seems to be more predictive that comedy at times. He posted several of the publication’s fake headlines and then showed how they matched real headlines in the media posted later.

Dillon also told of how the Babylon Bee was removed from Twitter for this post:

He described how Twitter deactivated their account at a time when the outlet had two million followers. The Babylon Bee stood their ground and eventually, when Elon Musk bought Twitter, got their account back.

Comedian Rob Schneider then took the stage and described his move from California to Florida and talked about how he supported Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his cause. He also talked about how important freedom and his newly strengthened religious beliefs had changed his life. Schneider took questions from the audience regarding his career, his beliefs, and other funny topics and answered them all with a great deal of humor and a heartfelt emotion.

Friday morning, a “change maker” panel made up of Jennifer Sey, Tulsi Gabbard, Maud Maron, and and Shawn Thierry, a Texas State Representative addressed the members on how each of them fight for parental rights and personal freedom. Here is a video of this panel here:

Maud Maron, President of Third Rail and political commentator, addressed her time as the President of Manhattan’s largest school board, CEC District 2 where she successfully campaigned to maintain merit-based admissions at NYC’s Specialized High Schools. Because her high profile advocacy, she was canceled by her employer as reported by the Free Press: A Witch Trial at the Legal Aid Society | The Free Press (thefp.com). She founded PLACE NYC, and the NYC chapter of FAIR.
Maud described how she would talk to people in her district and they would whisper to her that they agreed with her, but would not come out and say it in public for fear of retribution. Maud encouraged the crowd to “stop whispering” their beliefs and speak loudly.
She was followed by Jennifer Sey, former elite level gymnast, champion for women’s sports, and founder of the clothing company XX-YY, recounted her career as an elite gymnast and the abuse she suffered there at the hands of coaches and the refusal by USA Gymnastics to acknowledge abusive coaching tactics as well as her cancellation by her employers after she spoke out about the masking of children during Covid.
Jennifer suggested that people choose “freedom over fitting in” and understand that “there will be people who turn on you.”
Tulsi Gabbard, former U.S. Army Reserve officer, U.S. Representative for Hawaii’s 2nd district and Democrat Presidential candidate was up next and encouraged the attendees “not to be complainers but problem solvers.” She also said that the left is “terrified of us” and we should wear their insults as a “badge of honor.” Gabbard is no longer a Democrat as she left the party.
Finally, Shawn Thierry, a Texas State Representative since 2017, spoke. Shawn, a lifelong Democrat, talked about how she was told by fellow Democrats to “hold your nose and vote with us” even when she strongly disagreed with them. She explained how this Democrat Party was not the party she grew up with and she announced that she was leaving the Democrat Party effective immediately.
The session ended with the statements that Moms for Liberty membership should not “underestimate your influence and power as a group and an individual and that “if you wait to fight it downstream, we have lost.”
This was followed by an afternoon discussion panel on ” Culture War Frontline – Media Matters with Sebastian Gorka, Jan Jekielek, and Adele Malpass”:
