In today’s economy, Money Mailers are more appealing than ever to scavenge for deals, especially when it comes to food. The latest Money Mailer arrived in the mailbox today, and one in particular caught our attention. It was a Pat’s Pizza coupon for a FREE order of cannolis with a $15 purchase, picturing 5 of them. What an amazing deal.
We called to place an order and asked about it. They said it’s a misprint, and you only get one cannoli. We did not place the order realizing what was happening.
Having done an advertisement with Money Mailer in the past, you have to provide them with all of the information for the ad, you have to proof it, sign off before it goes to corporate approval, and lastly to print. There are multiple stages of confirmation with the advertisement agency to prevent misprints.
It’s possible the operator didn’t bother to proof it and blindly signed off. But that does not give them a pass on integrity. They should honor the mistake. When asked if they would honor it, it was a no.
Is this a mistake, or is it intentional to lure people through a deceptive deal?
Those who don’t bother to ask up front will take the ad for face value, and be in for a big surprise after they’ve already placed their order. So if you’re thinking of free cannolis with your order, that’s not what you’ll receive.
