The Memorial Day Ceremony in Wicomico County is scheduled for Monday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m.
Hosted at the Wicomico War Veterans’ Memorial in front of the Wicomico Civic Center on 500 Glen Ave. in Salisbury, the event welcomes everyone to attend for free. In case of bad weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Wicomico Civic Center’s Midway Room. This commemorative event is organized by the Wicomico County War Memorial Committee.
This yearly ceremony pays tribute to Wicomico County veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice. The program includes the lowering of the colors by the Wicomico County JROTC, ringing of the Red Knights Memorial Bell, branch prayers, and a volley of arms by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office. Attendees will witness the recognition of veterans and their families, along with a special tribute to Gold Star Mothers. The Reading of Veterans’ Names by War Memorial Committee members acknowledges Wicomico County residents who lost their lives in service.
