SALISBURY, Md. — A longtime employee of Wicomico County Public Schools is facing numerous charges tied to the alleged sexual abuse of a minor, as authorities warn there may be additional victims.
Russell Lee Camper Jr., an instructional aide with more than 20 years in the school system, was arrested March 13, 2026, following an investigation launched earlier that month by the Wicomico Child Advocacy Center. Investigators say the alleged abuse dates back several years and involved a student at Parkside High School.
Camper is now charged with a range of serious offenses, including sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree rape, and multiple related sex offenses and assault charges. As the investigation unfolded, officials identified other potential victims, resulting in additional charges and multiple counts across several categories.
Authorities say Camper worked at multiple schools over his career, including Salisbury Middle School, Parkside High School, Wicomico High School, North Salisbury Elementary, and Pinehurst Elementary. He also served as a girls track coach at Wicomico High School from 2014 to 2017.
In addition to his school roles, investigators noted Camper’s involvement in sports, music, and church-related activities throughout Wicomico County, often in settings where children were present.
Law enforcement officials believe more victims may exist and are encouraging anyone with information or who may have been impacted to contact Detective Sergeant J. Seichepine at the Wicomico Child Advocacy Center.
Officials stress that the charges remain allegations, and Camper is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
