WORCESTER COUNTY, MARYLAND – February 20, 2024
During the March 19, 2024, Worcester County Board of Education meeting, Katie Addis, a board member representing District 6, raised concerns and inquired about the 2024-2025 school budget. Superintendent of Schools, Lou Taylor, became irate and reprimanded Addis for her scrutiny of the budget and her frequent visits to the finance office to investigate spending matters. Watch the exchange below:
At a previous board meeting in February, other members of the board declared their confidence in the administration by stating they do not question the budget. The video of the meeting can be viewed here.
While Taylor may be accustomed to the board swiftly approving the budget, Addis has taken on the responsibility of meticulously examining a budget exceeding $100 million for fiscal accountability. Addis emphasized, “This is our job to do.”
