On Monday, Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th president, making history as the first person to serve non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland.
“I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Trump declared as Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath.
Prior to Trump’s inauguration, J.D. Vance took the oath as the 50th vice president of the United States. Vance, accompanied by his wife Usha and their three children, was sworn in by Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The inauguration took place in the Capitol Rotunda due to the frigid temperatures in Washington.
