Two 14-year-olds have been taken into custody following a fire that erupted inside an Acme grocery store in Newark, Delaware, on Sunday night.
The teenagers were presented before family court and then released on bail set at $9,000 and $5,000 each, as stated by the Delaware State Fire Marshal in a press release.
The Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company of Newark promptly responded to the blaze at the Acme grocery store situated within the Grove Shopping Center on Grove Lane around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Officials from the Delaware fire department reported that the Acme store was engulfed in smoke with a fire blazing inside, which was briefly contained by the store’s sprinkler system until authorities intervened.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, the grocery store suffered substantial damage from the fire and smoke, with an estimated cost of approximately $250,000, according to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office.
