The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles is warning residents about E-ZPass scams.
Earlier this year in February, Delaware’s Cyber-Security and Department of Transportation noted a rise in scam texts related to E-ZPass. On Sunday, the DMV sent out a reminder to residents about this safety issue and what to watch out for.
The Delaware DMV emphasized that “E-ZPass Delaware will NEVER reach out to you via text or email asking you to CLICK A LINK TO MAKE A PAYMENT or update your personal info.”
If you get a text or email you suspect is a scam, you are advised to report it to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center. Additionally, the DMV encourages you to report the number to your mobile provider by forwarding the suspicious message to 7726 from your phone.
