Questions Raised Over FOX45 Report on Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano
Wicomico County, Maryland – A recent FOX45 Baltimore report concerning Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano has generated significant controversy just days before the primary election.
The report presented allegations that Giordano sent sexually explicit photographs to sheriff’s deputies and that Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis issued a cease-and-desist letter instructing her to stop. At this time, no publicly available evidence has been produced to substantiate those claims.
It is important to note that we are not defending or accusing any party involved. However, the timing of the report and the absence of supporting documentation raise legitimate questions about the journalistic standards applied in this case.
Journalism relies on evidence. Serious allegations should be supported by verifiable facts, documents, witnesses willing to go on the record, or other forms of proof. In this instance, the public has been presented with accusations but has not been shown evidence to support them.
When questioned about the allegations, Giordano denied ever sending nude photographs to deputies. Sheriff Mike Lewis, meanwhile, reportedly declined to provide a copy of the alleged cease-and-desist letter, stating that he would only release it under a court order.
As a result, the public is left with competing claims and no publicly available evidence to evaluate them.
Giordano released a public statement on PAC14.
One question many residents may ask is simple: if such photographs existed and were widely circulated among deputies, why have they not surfaced publicly?
Adding another layer to the controversy are questions regarding the credibility of the report’s author, FOX45 reporter Gary Collins.
In 2022, Collins was accused by several political candidates of accepting thousands of dollars for campaign mail services that allegedly were never delivered. Documentation and additional reporting regarding those allegations are expected to be released separately.
Given the lack of publicly available evidence supporting the allegations against Giordano, combined with existing questions regarding Collins’ credibility, the report’s claims remain unverified.
Ultimately, the public deserves facts, not speculation. If evidence exists, it should be produced and examined. Until then, people should approach unsubstantiated allegations with caution.
To all parties involved, come back when you have evidence.
