Neil Parrott speaks at Easton fundraiser event.

The back room at Scossia, a restaurant in Easton, Maryland, was crowded Thursday night, September 5, with potential donors for Neil Parrott, Candidate for the 6th Congressional District of Maryland.

The amazing fact is that Easton and Talbot County are NOT in the 6th Congressional District. They are in District 1, represented by current Congressman Andy Harris. The 6th District contains Frederick, Washington, Alleghany and Garrett Counties and hundreds of miles away from the Eastern Shore. But, with Democrat David Trone leaving the at the end of this year, April Delaney, the wife of John Delaney from 2013 to 2017, is running on the Democrat side. According to FOX News and political experts, makes the seat an opportunity for the Republicans to pick up the seat, especially with the district’s 141,000 unaffiliated voters who could decide the race.1

Physical distance between the two districts doesn’t diminish the impact on the residents of Maryland and the United States.

If conservatives can pick up this seat as well as five other vulnerable seats across the country, they could maintain control of the House which would help Trump implement his policies if elected. If not, even a Trump election may not get conservative policies enacted.

State Senator Johnny Mautz voiced high hopes for the Parrott in the race. Even though the Democrats have out fundraised Parrott at almost two to one, the candidate has moved from two points behind in the race to two points ahead in recent polls. Mautz reminded the crowd that many of the Democrat donations came from big out of state donors. While in attendance at a Trump event in Pennsylvania, Mautz recounted how many there were excited with the fact that Parrott stands a good chance of winning.

Mautz stated that he was giving “the biggest donation I’ve ever given” to support Parrott because of the importance of the race.

Apparently, many donors on the Shore agree. In attendance were elected officials including Mautz, Jeff Ghrist, State Delegate for District 36, Tom Hutchinson, State Delegate for District 37 B, Talbot County Council President Chuck Callahan, Sheriff Joe Gamble, and Queen Anne’s County School Board members Marc Schifanelli and Helen Bennett. Republican candidate for Lt. Governor Gordana Schifanelli was also in attendance and helped introduced Parrott.

Ms. Schifanelli recounted how she did her research on Parrott and found that he had faithfully represented his district for twelve years with a 96% percent voting record rating from conservatives. She called him a “humble, ethical, and moral man.”

Parrott, who has a degree in engineering, is a lifelong Maryland resident and currently lives with his wife April, a teacher, and three children in Hagerstown where he also has a small business. He served in the Maryland House of Delegates for three terms until 2022. He and his wife founded the Hagerstown Area Summer Swimming program which has grown to over 1,000 swimmers in Washington County. The program has provided low-cost swim lesson to hundreds of children in the community.

Parrott said he ran because of the complete failure of the Biden/Harris administration. He is concerned about the national debt and the recent development that India will not be using the dollar as currency.

“We can’t continue to go down this road of borrowing and spending. It’s unsustainable,” Parrott said.

Parrott pledged to work to reduce the national debt, reduce the size of government, strengthen parental rights, and create jobs, all which will help alleviate the terrible inflation caused by Biden/Harris economic policies. He also believes in freedom of speech and law and order.

Attendees also heard from the head of Health Not Harm Maryland, Deborah Brocato, regarding the importance of voting “no” on Ballot Question 1, the Reproductive Freedom Amendment to the State Constitution. While abortion has been legal in Maryland since the 90’s, this amendment would codify abortion upon demand into Maryland’s Constitution. Brocato stated that the measure would erase parental rights and erode necessary health and safety standards among other effects.
