CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kiya Garrett had two hits and three RBIs on Wednesday to lead the Charlotte softball team to an 8-4 victory over No. 18 Virginia Tech.
The 49ers (13-9) defeated Tech for the third consecutive year.
Bre Peck had two hits and one RBI for the Hokies (18-4-1), whose winning streak ended at eight.
Notre Dame 11, Radford 6
Simon Baumgart completed a grand slam on Wednesday, leading the Fighting Irish (11-5) to defeat the host Highlanders (5-10).
Zach Whittaker had three hits and one RBI for Radford.
1st place Shenandoah 8, W&L 6, 11 in.
Gavin Horning hit a two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning and the Hornets (13-1, 3-0 ODAC) defeated the Generals (8-6, 3-2) on Wednesday in Lexington.

W&L’s Ethan Zulueta hit an RBI double in the eighth inning to tie the game at six runs.
Ferrum 6, Hamilton 5
On Wednesday, with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Mason Moffett hit an RBI single to give the host Panthers (6-8) a victory over Hamilton (2-4).
Moffett had two hits and three RBIs. Clayton Michael had four hits and one RBI for Ferrum.
Roanoke 17, Franklin & Marshall 15
Wyatt Whitlow scored five goals Wednesday to lead the host Maroons (7-2) over the Diplomats (5-2).
With the game tied at 13 points, Whitlow scored two consecutive goals to give his team a permanent lead at 15-13 with 7:42 remaining.
Messiah 21, SVU9
Mike McNally scored eight goals to lead Messiah (5-2) to the Knights (1-6) on Wednesday at Buena Vista.
Clay Haake scored three goals for SVU.
Ferrum 21, Greensboro 0
Willow Cooper scored eight goals Wednesday to lead the visiting Panthers (5-1) over the host Pride (0-3).
Mikaiyah Dickerson scored four goals.
No. 9 W&L 21, Eastern Mennonite 1
Hannah Bishop broke the W&L all-time scoring record as the Generals (4-3, 3-0 ODAC) defeated the Royals (1-2, 0-1) on Tuesday night in Harrisonburg. .
Bishop scored three goals in the win, giving him 185 career goals.
Alex Petras also scored three goals for W&L.
It was the second game of the day for W&L, which won 19-7 at Bridgewater earlier Tuesday.
VMI’s Olowonyi enters the portal
A sixth VMI basketball player is heading to the transfer portal.
Stephen Olowonyi plans to enter the portal, according to a Wednesday tweet from the PDT Scouting account.
The 6-foot-8 Olowonyi averaged 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds as a freshman this year.
