SALISBURY, Maryland. — A James M. Bennett High School teacher and her husband are facing an extensive list of charges, including the sexual abuse of a minor, according to court records obtained by WBOC.
Brock Schuchart, of Salisbury, was first charged on April 30, 2026, in Wicomico County District Court with child sexual abuse, rape, and multiple sex‑offense counts involving a child under 14.
On May 18, his case was transferred to Wicomico County Circuit Court, where the number of charges expanded to more than 100, including allegations of filming and possessing child pornography. Court documents indicate the alleged abuse occurred between April 2021 and April 2026.
His wife, Ann Schuchart, a James M. Bennett High School teacher and the school’s 2021 Teacher of the Year, was charged the same day her husband’s case advanced to Circuit Court. She now faces 52 counts, including sex abuse of a minor, assault, neglect of a minor, sex offenses, and failure to report child abuse.
According to Brock Schuchart’s charging documents, the child victim reported the alleged abuse to Ann multiple times, but she did not notify authorities.
Wicomico County Public Schools has removed Ann Schuchart from its website. In a message sent to families Friday afternoon, James M. Bennett High School stated that she has been placed on administrative leave and is not currently working within the school system.
School officials emphasized that the alleged abuse did not occur on school property, did not involve students, and was unrelated to school operations.
“The investigation into the allegations is in the hands of the appropriate authorities, and Wicomico Schools is cooperating fully with all investigative agencies,” the statement said. “Because this matter involves an active investigation, personnel matters, and minor child confidentiality considerations, we cannot provide additional details at this time.”
Court records show that Ann Schuchart was released on her own recognizance following an initial appearance on May 21. Brock Schuchart remains held without bond, with an initial Circuit Court appearance scheduled for June 5.
